If your dreams don’t scare you they aren’t big enough

I have two big dreams in my life right now.

Don’t mistake me here, I have a load of smaller dreams also!! Like: get some of my pictures published, make money from my blog, take my kid around the USA one summer on an epic road trip, see one live concert a month for the next year.

However two of my dreams are huge.

Like not sure how its ever going to happen huge but I really want it to.

Dream number 1

I want to hike The Appalachian Trail, The Pacific Crest Trail and the Continental Divide Trail. Doing all 3 earns you the bragging rights of a Triple Crown in hiking. To do all 3 you will hike 7,931 miles with 1,000,000 feet of vertical gain. It takes most people about 5 1/2 months of hiking to get each trail done. But the beauty and the hardship of the journey make this something I really want to accomplish one day.

So a small goal of mine is to get on the Appalachian Trail this summer with my son and hike some miles. Get a feel for the trail and just get out there.

Dream number 2

I want to become one of the Artists in Residence for Denali National Park.

With this honor comes the ability to go just about anywhere in Denali. So you get to have most of the park to yourself for this time period. It is an amazing opportunity to gain experience and exposure for your craft. Also how amazing would it be getting to spend time in Alaska just taking pictures?

I know my dreams are big, but I am ready to make small steps everyday that may get me to them. I’m ready to start where I am and work everyday to be where I want to be.

So, what are your big dreams and how are you going to reach them?
